Join the First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) as the Team Lead for Mental Health & Wellness on Vancouver Island. This role focuses on enhancing mental health and wellness outcomes for First Nations individuals and families through targeted service improvements and community-driven initiatives.

Job Details
Title : Team Lead, Mental Health and Wellness
Salary : $86,929 – $101,343 per year (pay range explained below)
Contract : Term until Sept 2027 (maternity coverage)
Hours : 37.5 hours (core hours 9 am‑3 pm Mon‑Fri)
Location : Vancouver Island, BC (ancestral territories of the Coast Salish, Kwakwaka'wakw, and Nuu-chah-nulth Nations; hybrid work option; travel within the island may be required)
Bargaining Unit : PIPSC (Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada)
About the Role
As the Team Lead, you will lead and oversee the planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and quality control of the Vancouver Island Regional Mental Health and Wellness Team. The team enhances mental health and wellness outcomes through targeted service improvements, cross continuum services, trauma‑informed practice, outreach, and crisis response. You will optimize service experiences for First Nations individuals and families and build partnerships with BC First Nations communities, Island Health staff and leadership, and other partners.
Qualifications
- Education and Certifications : Master’s degree in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, or related field with a specialization in mental health; up‑to‑date registration in good standing with a professional regulatory body (e.g., BC Association of Clinical Counsellors or BC College of Social Workers).
- Experience : 5‑7 years working with complex social systems, including a previous leadership role or equivalent combination of experience and education; experience working with First Nations people and communities.
- Knowledge : Mental health and wellness team leadership; ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with First Nations and health system partners; understanding and humility in First Nations cultural and holistic wellness; physical ability to perform duties of the position.
