JOB SUMMARY UNDER THE GENERAL AUTHORITY OF THE ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF STUDENT SERVICES AND THE DIRECT SUPERVISION OF THE CONSEILLER EN SERVICES ADPATÉS, THE SOCIAL WORK TECHNICIAN IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING ASSISTANCE TO STUDENTS WHO REQUIRE ACCOMMODATIONS AND WILL COLLABORATE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF MENTAL HEALTH INITIATIVES FOR STUDENTS AT THE COLLEGE
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in the preparation of intervention plans for students who require accommodations, selects measures to be taken to achieve the objectives determined, prepares an action plan and applies these measures.
- Assist in conducting needs assessments for all students who require accommodations, in particular; physically disabled students, students with mental health issues and students with medical concerns.
- Liaise with appropriate services on campus and with Cégep du Vieux-Montreal (CCSI) to ensure that appropriate equipment is available to meet the needs of the students.
- Liaise with teachers and staff to meet the needs of students, in particular; physically disabled students, students with mental health issues and medical concerns.
- Refer students to appropriate support services on campus such as Academic Advising, Counseling, Health & Wellness, Financial Assistance, etc.
- Keep current with issues related to the regulations concerning students who require accommodations.
- Maintain records and prepare documentation required by Cégep Vieux-Montreal (CCSI) and MEES related to funding for student who require accommodations.
- Liaise with appropriate individuals on campus to ensure that appropriate emergency procedures are taken with students
- Assist with English Exit Exam and the ‘l’Épreuve Uniforme de Français’
- Perform any other related tasks as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS : Education
College diploma in an appropriate specialty (Special Education Techniques / Special Care Counselling) or a diploma or an attestation of studies, which is recognized as equivalent by the competent authority
