Description :

The Department of Speech-Language Pathology in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, invites applications for a full-time continuing teaching stream appointment in the area of communication and / or swallowing disorders. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025.

Applicants must have a PhD degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or a related field by the appointment date, or shortly thereafter, with a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and a strong record of pedagogical inquiry. The candidate must be eligible for registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO). We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and strengthen our existing  departmental foci .

Candidates must have teaching experience in a degree-granting program, including lecture preparation and delivery, curriculum development, and development of online material / lectures. Additionally, candidates must possess a demonstrated commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry and a demonstrated interest in teaching-related scholarly activities.

Evidence of excellence in teaching and a commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry can be demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, awards and accolades, and a strong teaching dossier including a statement of teaching philosophy, sample course materials, and teaching evaluations as submitted as part of the application. Candidates may also share career goals, experience as a course instructor, and a record of excellence in teaching in both small and large enrolment classes, curriculum development, and mentoring learners. The successful candidate must also have pedagogy-related scholarly accomplishments demonstrated by publications in peer-reviewed journals, presentations at conferences, and strong endorsements by referees of high standing.

The successful candidate will engage in education leadership and scholarship that align with the Speech-Language Pathology Department’s  mission  and  strategic plan . They will also participate in developing curriculum and teaching innovation and scholarship. In addition, they will be involved in student mentoring and remediation, faculty development, community engagement, and interprofessional education and collaboration.
