• Lead the preparation of monthly financial statements, including detailed reconciliations of general ledger and accounts receivable (direct and broker bill).
• Maintain and enhance the Chart of Accounts, ensuring it aligns with reporting needs, regulatory requirements, and internal analysis.
• Perform monthly and quarterly account reconciliations, and prepare audit working papers for the annual audit.
• Prepare quarterly OSFI P&C returns and other regulatory filings, ensuring alignment with reconciled financial data and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
• Oversee reinsurance accounting, including journal entries, reconciliations, and coordination with claims and reinsurance partners to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Track, analyze, and report on commissions and investment income.
• Contribute to actuarial working papers and supporting financial statement accuracy.
• Prepare provincial premium tax returns, HST returns, and other tax compliance filings, and support annual budgeting and forecasting with data analysis and variance insights.
• Participate in special projects, system implementations, and process improvements to enhance financial operations and reporting capabilities.
