Our Broder Public Sector client is looking for a Technical Architect (Data Centre Migration Specialist
Estimated Start Date : January 1, 2025
Anticipated Duration : 6 months
Duration of Potential Extension : 6 months
The Specialist will be working in a hybrid mode, with remote option and may be
occasionally required to work from
Metro Hall located at 55 John Street in Toronto.
The successful candidate will be working seven (7) hours per day, five (5) days
per week based on normal working Business Hours.
Description of Assignment
A Senior Technical Architect (Data Centre Migration Specialist) with expertise in
infrastructure migration is needed to assist the server room migration initiative.
The Specialist will play a crucial role in defining the requirements, including non-
functional and security needs, providing technical inputs, clarifying issues, and
contributing to and reviewing the solution design. The Specialist will ensure that
specific technical, operational, and security requirements are clearly articulated
and embedded into the migration strategy. In addition to providing critical
oversight, the Specialist will collaborate with current IT infrastructure staff, who
possess a deep understanding of the existing infrastructure.
The Specialist will also coordinate and perform the testing and validation of the
migrated infrastructure, ensuring it aligns with our operational needs and strategic
goals.

Responsibilities
Define and document non-functional requirements, including performance,
scalability, and security.
Serve as the key liaison between our organization and the corporate migration
partner, ensuring clear communication of requirements.
Collaborate with internal teams to capture infrastructure needs and prepare for
migration.
Facilitate meetings between stakeholders, internal staff, and the migration
leader to ensure alignment.
Work closely with other IT staff to ensure their expertise is integrated into the
migration process.
Oversee the review of technical designs and plans provided by the corporate
migration partner.
Validate that the migration strategy meets operational, technical, and security
standards.
Manage the testing and acceptance of migrated systems, ensuring they meet
defined specifications.
Track and report on project progress, milestones, and risks to key stakeholders.
Develop contingency plans to mitigate any risks that arise during the migration.
Coordinate pre-migration testing and infrastructure audits to ensure readiness.
Facilitate the validation of data integrity and continuity during the migration.
Oversee post-migration testing, ensuring all systems function as expected in
the new environment.
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal cybersecurity
policies throughout the migration.
Provide regular updates and final project documentation, including lessons
learned and post-migration reviews.
Qualifications
Qualifications and Experience :
1. 10 years of experience in medium to large scale IT infrastructure design,
implementation, and migration.
2. Five (5) years of experience in server room or data center migration projects.
3. Five (5) years of experience in defining IT infrastructure non-functional
requirements such as performance, scalability, and security.
4. Five (5) years of experience in cybersecurity, compliance, and regulatory
requirements.
5. Experience with network and firewall design, server virtualization, network
storage.
6. Experience working with cross-functional teams, including part-time staff
involvement in technical projects.
7. Experience with project management, with the strong ability to manage
stakeholder relationships.
8. Experience with risk management and the development of contingency plans
in IT projects.
9. Strong analytical skills for problem-solving and issue resolution during the
migration process.
10. Excellent written & verbal communication skills, comfortable & confident
communicating at all levels including business partners, leadership and
vendors.
11. Demonstrated critical thinking and strategic planning skills.
12. BS in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline or equivalent
experience
