Reporting to the Superintendent, the Trade Supervisor Bridge Worker oversees the inspection, repair, and upkeep of bridge structures within the Stikine region, ensuring the safety and reliability of the transportation network. This role involves supervising maintenance crews, coordinating resources, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The supervisor plays a critical role in maintaining the structural integrity of bridges, contributing to the safe and efficient movement of the public.
This is a relocation-based position in Dease Lake, BC, requiring travel within the service area. To support a smooth transition, accommodation and a company vehicle are provided. Other perks of the job include allowances for clothing, boots, and isolation, as well as an annual vacation transportation subsidy.
How You’ll Add Value
- Actively contribute to the safety culture, promoting a safe and productive environment
- Supervise and direct a crew of two to three employees to ensure safe and efficient completion of tasks
- Plans, schedules, and organizes daily work assignments for maintenance crews
- Trains and mentors’ apprentices and crew members on trade skills and safety practices
- Follows strict safety standards especially when working at heights or near water
- Operates equipment to drive steel, wood, or concrete piles into the ground to provide foundational support for structures like bridges, buildings, docks, and piers
- Works with pile hammers, cranes, drilling rigs, and other heavy equipment
- Builds, installs, and maintains bridge components including decks, girders, piers, and abutments
- Monitors quality of work and ensures compliance with safety regulations and specifications
- Performs structural repairs and reinforcement using steel, concrete, and timber
- Works with specialized rigging and hoisting systems to position heavy materials
- Reads and interprets blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications
- Uses surveying tools and leveling instruments to ensure accurate placement of structures
- Maintains records of work completed and reports progress to management
