What Is The Opportunity?

Reporting to the Project Manager, Continuous Improvement (IMS & Change), the Technical Writer, Integrated Management System (IMS) provides writing and documentation expertise to support Aecon Nuclear’s management system within a project‑based environment with defined governance and control requirements. The role exists to ensure IMS documentation is clear, consistent, and fit‑for‑use across the organization.

The Technical Writer partners with functional leads and subject matter experts to transform operational and technical information into standardized procedures, forms, guides, and process documentation that support safe, compliant, and effective execution of work.

What You’ll Do Here

  • Develop, co‑author, and maintain IMS documentation, including procedures, forms, guides, and process documentation, in collaboration with functional leads and subject matter experts (SME)
  • Facilitate interviews, working sessions, and workshops with SMEs to extract, clarify, and structure functional and technical information
  • Translate operational and functional processes into standardized, IMS‑aligned documentation and process material that reflect end‑to‑end workflows and cross‑functional interfaces
  • Review existing IMS content to identify gaps, duplication, misalignment, or opportunities for improvement and standardization
  • Contribute to the organization, usability, and ongoing evolution of the IMS, including supporting improvements to structure, navigation, and accessibility within the IMS Portal
  • Support Continuous Improvement initiatives and Nuclear Strategic Action Plans by providing documentation expertise and structured content
  • Coordinate with functional stakeholders, Quality and Document Control to ensure documentation aligns with established review, control, and release processes
  • Support ad hoc IMS documentation and Management of Change needs related to adoption, implementation, or improvement initiatives, as prioritized by Continuous Improvement leadership
  • Contribute to the evolution of IMS documentation standards, templates, and authoring practices to improve clarity, consistency, and usability
  • Provide guidance to functional contributors on documentation structure and IMS alignment when supporting or co‑authoring content
  • The role may provide functional guidance, coaching, or documentation support to subject matter experts and contributors during co‑authoring or working sessions, without formal authority or approval accountability
  • Other duties as required

What You Bring To The Team

  • Experience developing controlled procedural documentation within matrixed, project‑based or regulated environments. Working within change management workflows is an asset
  • Proven ability to translate complex functional or technical information into clear, structured, and usable documentation, including procedures, work instructions, guides, and process maps
  • Strong facilitation, interviewing, and collaboration skills when working with technical and non‑technical subject matter experts
  • Organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple documentation efforts in parallel with limited direction
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clarify requirements and challenge input constructively
  • Proficiency with standard documentation and collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, Visio or equivalent process‑mapping tools, SharePoint or similar platforms); experience with electronic document management systems is an asset
  • Experience working in infrastructure, construction, nuclear, utility, or other regulated industries is considered an asset
