Job type

Job description

Description

Competitive Benefits. Meaningful Extras. Unmatched Value.

  • A place where you can take your career in the direction you want to grow and go
  • Save on gas at stations across Canada, including Chevron, Fas Gas, Ultramar, and Pioneer

The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Regional Sales Manager, the Residential Account Representative plays a key role in growing Parkland’s residential customer base within the Cape Breton region. This field-based role focuses on acquiring new residential customers for heating oil, and related heating equipment, while maintaining strong relationships with existing accounts. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong prospecting, communication, and customer service skills to maximize growth and profitability in the territory.

Responsibilities:

  • Prospect for new residential heating oil customers through cold calls, community engagement, and referrals
  • Conduct face-to-face meetings and follow-up calls with potential customers to communicate Parkland’s value and service offerings
  • Cross-sell heating equipment and maintenance plans to new and existing customers
  • Actively represent and promote the Ultramar brand within the community to increase market awareness
  • Track sales volumes, customer numbers, and profit margins using reports and CRM tools to identify growth opportunities
  • Prepare and submit weekly sales and call reports to management to track progress toward targets
  • Collaborate with internal partners, including operations, credit, dispatch, and marketing teams, to support customers and resolve issues
  • Manage customer accounts with professionalism, addressing billing or payment concerns and maintaining positive relationships
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of propane and fuel tank regulations, federal and provincial guidelines, and safety procedures
  • Perform administrative duties such as preparing expense and commission reports and attending regular sales meetings
  • Travel within the assigned territory, including occasional overnight stays

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of sales experience with a proven record of success
  • Formal sales training (on the job or formal coursework) required
  • Industry-specific sales experience (propane, fuels, or HVAC) considered a strong asset
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Flexible, goal-oriented, and highly self-motivated with strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Must be able to work independently and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean abstract
  • Willingness to travel regularly within the assigned territory

Humble. Hungry. Smart. Does this sound like you?

Do others describe you as being a down-to-earth achiever? Someone who thinks outside the box and always strives to do more than what is required. Someone who sees the bigger picture? You sound brilliant to work with!

We Want You To Shine:

We are committed to providing equal opportunities to all applicants. If you require accommodation due to a disability, you will have an opportunity to notify us when scheduling your interview.

Belonging Matters. Because You Do:

We are an equal opportunity employer and encourage applications from all qualified individuals.

Our ability to work as one team across Canada, the United States and the Caribbean is foundational to our success. We show up as our authentic selves each day and create space for one another’s unique contributions.

Our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and Affinity Networks help us activate enterprise-wide strategies that power a proactive culture of diversity, equity, inclusions, and ultimately – belonging.

We respect the diverse cultures, traditions and perspectives of Indigenous Peoples and seek to achieve equitable partnerships and opportunities with Indigenous communities.

The Fine Print:

Candidates must be legally eligible to work in the country in which they applied. Regrettably, we are unable to sponsor employment visas at this time.

Please note that final candidates for this position will be required to undergo a confidential pre-employment background check, including but not limited to educational, criminal, credit, drug and alcohol, and/or fitness for duty testing.
