This position focuses on implementing the USask Safety Management Systems within various departments and units. Initially, the role will emphasize injury reduction within the Veterinary Medical Centre, ensuring the well-being of both animals and humans. Responsibilities include managing incident investigations, Workers Compensation Board (WCB) claims, and leading injury prevention strategies. Additionally, the Senior Safety Advisor develops and delivers safety training programs. The position supports multiple programs and initiatives to ensure the University meets or exceeds regulatory compliance requirements, aligning with the strategic directions of Safety Resources and the departments and units of USask.
Nature of Work : The Senior Safety Advisor collaborates with management and other USask leaders to implement Health and Safety programs, prioritizing departments or work groups with higher safety hazards, risks, and incident rates. The role focuses on achieving regulatory compliance and addressing the needs of the campus community. It requires a compassionate approach to safety, suitable for those with a genuine interest in animal welfare. Responsibilities include responding to technical queries, promoting best practices, implementing university health and safety policies, and working with stakeholders to meet legislative requirements.
