The Role : As a Respiratory Therapist in the ICU and ER, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality care to critically ill patients with respiratory disorders. You will perform advanced assessments, treatments, and interventions in collaboration with the ICU and ER teams. Your expertise will support patients in critical conditions, ensuring rapid response to respiratory needs and promoting optimal outcomes in high-acuity environments.

Responsibilities :

Provide advanced respiratory therapy treatments and assessments for ICU and ER patients, including mechanical ventilation and airway management.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to develop, implement, and adjust patient care plans based on ongoing assessments.

Monitor, document, and evaluate patient progress and responses to treatments, making adjustments as necessary for best outcomes.

Assist with emergency interventions, such as intubations and code responses, and maintain readiness for rapid response to critical cases.

Educate patients and families on respiratory care practices and post-care respiratory management.

Ensure all respiratory equipment is in proper working order and adhere to infection control and safety standards.

Requirements :

Valid Respiratory Therapist license.

Minimum of 2 years of Canadian experience in respiratory therapy, with ICU or ER experience preferred.

Certifications in BLS and ACLS.

Strong critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills.

Ability to perform in high-stakes, fast-paced ICU and ER environments.
