Unit Summary
Committed to patient-oriented care, Hamilton Health Sciences Pharmacy utilizes technical staff to its full capacity, enabling pharmacists to concentrate on clinical activities. Our complement of technicians has moved beyond a supportive role to take on the bulk of distribution activities including checking. Our Pharmacy Department provides pharmaceutical care, inpatient computerized unit dose, inpatient computerized unit dose and/or individual patient prescription, central IV admixture systems and a wide variety of ambulatory care services through our accredited retail pharmacy, 4 central pharmacies and 2 satellite pharmacies. Integrated across 4 sites, it also operates a regional drug information centre. The department trains undergraduate Pharmacy Technicians and undergraduate/postgraduate pharmacist students and provides a fully accredited Pharmacist residency program.
Position Summary
The Pharmacy Research Coordinator and Special Access Program Support reports to the Manager of Pharmacy Research Support and is responsible for providing and supporting the activities associated with the provision of services needed to perform the pharmacy component for Hamilton Health Sciences clinical trials and procuring and monitoring SAP drug supply, for assisting in the operationalization and implementation of all HHS research initiatives, for invoicing and ensuring payments are received for costs associated for research support services. The role may involve travel to all three acute care sites of HHS.
Schedule Work HoursMonday to Friday; days ; Position may be required to support on-call activities, if required.
This position is temporary until March 2027.
Qualifications
Completion of a college level Pharmacy Technician Program required (accredited college level Pharmacy Technician Program preferred)
Registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists as a Pharmacy Technician (RPhT)
Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, detail oriented, communication, teamwork, problem-solving and organizational skills
Strong computer skills
Proven ability to follow specific instructions with a high degree of accuracy
Demonstrated initiative and judgment appropriate for the role. Self-directed in seeking out pharmacy issues within the healthcare team
Demonstrated commitment to professional development
Proven ability to perform the physical requirements of the position which may include standing/sitting for extended periods of time, moderate lifting and pushing carts
