General Fusion is transforming how the world is energized by working to develop the world’s first commercially-viable fusion power plant. Fusion will deliver clean, safe and on-demand power at industrial scale, providing a powerful complement to renewables and a pathway to a zero-emission grid. Combining new technologies, proven industrial processes, and advances in fundamental fusion science, General Fusion aims to be the first in the world to develop commercial fusion power.
Position Overview
The Research Technician will operate lithium metal casting and processing equipment, perform laboratory experiments, maintain process documentation, and provide analysis of experimental results. The position is primarily located on site at General Fusion’s facilities in Richmond, BC, and may require some shift work or flexible hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and operate custom-built equipment in the laboratory
- Set up, operate, and clean lithium casting equipment
- Perform machining operations on lithium (e.g. lathe, roller)
- Safely handle high temperature and rotating equipment
- Assist with maintenance and upgrades to equipment
- Perform routine and one-time experiments
- Handle materials in a glovebox environment
- Champion safe work practices
- Maintain a clean, tidy and efficient workspace
- Prepare documentation, present results at team meetings
- Proactively contribute to a great work environment
- Work independently, while taking initiative to gather necessary information from colleagues and documentation before commencing work

What We Offer
Salary - $65,000 - $75,000 CAD annually, plus benefits and incentives
