Job description

Lac La Ronge Indian Band is now accepting applications for the following full-time position in Executive Office Department based in

La Ronge:

REINTEGRATION WORKER

The suitable candidate will perform the following duties:

  • The Reintegration Worker will complete Referral Forms for prospective referrals and forward the appropriate Ministry.
  • The Reintegration worker will collaborate with the Community Connections worker to develop individualized reintegration goals and support activities to address identified criminogenic risk areas for each client.
  • Engage one-on-one contact (beginning in custody where applicable) to establish a relationship.
  • Establishing/re-establishing attachments with family;
  • Fostering a relationship between the Community Connections Worker and community supports (teacher, coach, mentor, elder)
  • Facilitating frequent and meaningful activities between the client, the family and other natural supports.
  • Offer clients intensive, meaningful interaction;
  • Address known criminogenic risk areas (education, employment, family circumstances, companions, antisocial patterns, pro-criminal attitudes, leisure, substance use/abuse, self-management, residence, instability, and financial instability). Program activities will be provided by the Agency during non-traditional work hours. This includes but is not limited to;
  • Helping and encouraging clients to register and maintain in school.
  • Assisting with resume building/job search.
  • Attending client’s court dates and arranging transportation for the youth’s parents.
  • Transporting clients to and from addictions, mental health or reporting appointments.
  • Providing support in engaging in pro-social recreational activities with the clients and the client’s families.
  • Working on case management plans.
  • Conduction home visits and school visits to receive updates on behaviour, performance and attendance.
  • Providing cultural opportunities for clients.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to high need youth and young adults (ages 12-24);
  • Recruit mentors and community resources (where applicable) by providing community awareness/education about the program;
  • Work with aggressive or non-communicative behaviours;
  • Work independently and as a contributing member of various community groups to meet clients’ needs and program goals and objectives;

The suitable candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Must Have Grade 12 and certificate/diploma in Social Science;
  • 1-2 years’ experience working with youth and/or relevant work experience will be considered;
  • Must be able to build relationships and gain trust and respect with client group (interpersonal skills);
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills;
  • Have leadership and mentorship skills;
  • Have good organization skills;
  • Have interviewing and assessment skills;
  • Have conflict resolution/program solving skills;
  • Able to write concise correspondence, reports and chronological notes.
  • Ability to work flexible hours (evenings and weekends)
  • Able to de-escalate conflict or help resolve crisis situations;
  • Have understanding of cultural diversity and of community-based services
  • Must provide a Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Screening;
  • Must have Valid Driver’s License;
  • First Aid/CPR will be considered an asset
  • Have an understanding of the youth criminal justice system.
