Job Title : RECREATION THERAPY ASSISTANT
Department : Recreation
Reports to : Life Enrichment Manager
Status : Days, (Every Other Weekend)
Non-Union
JOB SUMMARY
The Recreation Therapy Assistant is a resident-focused position that develops and implements individual and group programs designed to motivate, activate, and promote the mental, physical, social and intellectual, and spiritual well-being of the resident. This position will work in accordance with all policies and procedures of the home, and will work in a safe and healthy manner and follow the regulations outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Including but not limited to :
- Assisting with resident admission assessment to determine interests, abilities and function and implement appropriate programming
- Provide engaging activities for diverse population of residents in the Long-Term Care.
- Work with other team members to plan and conduct facility wide events that include evenings and weekends as required.
- Act as member of Lifecare committees as required.
- Utilize Activity Pro charting system to record resident’s activity attendance.
- Work with team for assigned resident home areas and assist with ideas for the facility wide calendar.
- Participate in preparation of the facility for Ministry reviews and Accreditation.
- Assist with coordination of students, community agencies, schools, entertainment, and volunteer positions.
- Assume responsibility for ongoing professional development.
- Other duties as assigned
