MatchBox Consulting Group is confidentially and exclusively engaged with a well-established, privately held construction and real estate development organization in the Lower Mainland to recruit a Manager, Accounting Operations .
This is a senior, hands-on leadership role within a vertically integrated business operating across construction, development, and property ownership , with active projects throughout BC and Alberta. The successful candidate will act as a player-coach , owning accounting operations end-to-end while leading and developing a small, capable team.
The Opportunity
This role sits at the intersection of construction accounting, development finance, and operational leadership . You’ll partner closely with Finance leadership, construction, and development teams to ensure accurate reporting, disciplined controls, and a high standard of internal service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
Lead, develop, and mentor a team of 3+ accounting professionals in a player-coach capacity
Take full ownership of Accounting Operations outcomes, including accountability for results and issues
Proactively plan resourcing around peak periods and critical deadlines
Balance multiple priorities while consistently meeting deliverables
Model organizational values through day-to-day leadership and collaboration
Accounting Operations
Act as the primary Accounting Operations contact for internal and external stakeholders, delivering a high-touch, professional service standard
Partner with the Director of Finance to execute the global month-end close calendar
Oversee vendor and customer issue resolution within defined service timelines
Own related-party reconciliations across all entities
Own capital stack and development / property reconciliations between the trial balance and project reporting
Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and month-end journal entries
Partner with construction and development teams to ensure timely billing and accurate job costing
Maintain strong controls around purchase orders, receipts, and payables (3-way matching)
Own regulatory filings and ensure full compliance with CRA requirements
Contribute to the ongoing maturity and quality of the Accounting Operations function
Financial Reporting
Lead month-end and year-end processes, from planning through review
Prepare and review internal and external financial statements under ASPE
Lead the development and maintenance of accounting policies
Process Improvement & Systems
Act as the subject-matter expert on accounting systems and internal controls
Continuously identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and reporting quality
Support system enhancements or implementations as required
Qualifications
8+ years of progressive accounting experience
3+ years of people management or team leadership experience
Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting or equivalent)
CPA designation
Direct experience in construction and / or real estate development accounting
Strong understanding of job costing, related-party accounting, and multi-entity environments
