This is a senior, hands-on leadership role within a vertically integrated business operating across construction, development, and property ownership , with active projects throughout BC and Alberta. The successful candidate will act as a player-coach , owning accounting operations end-to-end while leading and developing a small, capable team.

The Opportunity

This role sits at the intersection of construction accounting, development finance, and operational leadership . You’ll partner closely with Finance leadership, construction, and development teams to ensure accurate reporting, disciplined controls, and a high standard of internal service delivery.

If you enjoy building strong teams, improving processes, and owning complex accounting environments rather than just supervising from a distance, this role will suit you well.

Take full ownership of Accounting Operations outcomes, including accountability for results and issues

Proactively plan resourcing around peak periods and critical deadlines

Balance multiple priorities while consistently meeting deliverables

Accounting Operations

Act as the primary Accounting Operations contact for internal and external stakeholders, delivering a high-touch, professional service standard

Partner with the Director of Finance to execute the global month-end close calendar

Oversee vendor and customer issue resolution within defined service timelines

Own related-party reconciliations across all entities

Own capital stack and development / property reconciliations between the trial balance and project reporting

Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and month-end journal entries

Partner with construction and development teams to ensure timely billing and accurate job costing

Maintain strong controls around purchase orders, receipts, and payables (3-way matching)

Own regulatory filings and ensure full compliance with CRA requirements

Contribute to the ongoing maturity and quality of the Accounting Operations function

Financial Reporting

Lead month-end and year-end processes, from planning through review

Prepare and review internal and external financial statements under ASPE

Lead the development and maintenance of accounting policies

Process Improvement & Systems

Act as the subject-matter expert on accounting systems and internal controls

Continuously identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and reporting quality

Support system enhancements or implementations as required

Qualifications

8+ years of progressive accounting experience

3+ years of people management or team leadership experience

Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting or equivalent)

CPA designation

Direct experience in construction and / or real estate development accounting

Strong understanding of job costing, related-party accounting, and multi-entity environments

Why This Role

Senior-level ownership without large-company bureaucracy

Exposure to both construction operations and real estate development

Stable, long-term role within a disciplined and growing private organization

Opportunity to shape systems, processes, and team capability
