HDR is looking for a Rail Systems Integration Engineer to join our Toronto office. Reporting to the Section Lead Systems, Operations and Maintenance, you will be part of the larger North America Rail and Transit Systems Team, working closely with project managers and engineering disciplines on a variety of projects in Canada and the US.

As an engineer with growing experience in the rail and transit field, you will support in the development and application of Systems Integration principles (such as requirements management and interface management) on projects. Working with a wide variety of engineering disciplines you will need to be creative, hands‑on, and good at problem solving, being able to look at projects from a bigger holistic systems perspective.

You will proactively lead in undertaking systems integration processes, working closely with the Systems Integration Lead to continuously look for ways to build and improve those processes.

This position is ideal for an engineer with a broader view and understanding across multiple engineering and project disciplines (including civil engineering, architecture, track, and rail systems), as opposed to working as a specialized electrical or mechanical engineer for example.

Primary Responsibilities

• Support in the development of Systems Integration processes, and application on a variety of multi-disciplinary projects.
• Facilitate and develop interfaces, requirements, and concepts.
• Support and co‑ordinate in undertaking technical reviews of designs, plans, specifications, construction submittals, testing and commissioning documents, etc.
• Support and work closely with the wider Systems Engineering team, including Systems Assurance, RAMS, and Operations & Maintenance.
• Support the development and undertaking of Verification and Validation (V&V) processes.
