As part of our team, you play a vital role in delivering energy we all rely on, and you'll make a meaningful impact in the communities where we live and work.

Join us as a Specialist Mine Engineer, Data Analytics, and help transform complex operational data into insights that improve performance, efficiency, and decision-making across oil sands mining. In this role, you’ll uncover trends, apply advanced analytics and predictive modeling, and solve real-world challenges in dynamic, asset-intensive environments. If you’re excited by modern data tools, practical problem-solving, and the opportunity to help shape a more data-driven future for the resource industry, we’d love to hear from you.

What we offer:

  • Benefits: utilize an employee assistance program and comprehensive company-paid health, dental, and vision benefits for you and your family to support your mental, physical, and financial well-being

  • Generous time-off: enjoy generous paid vacation time and personal time-off to recharge and maintain a healthy work-life balance

  • Talent development programs: Internal mobility, succession planning, and employee training and development programs are just a few ways we’re dedicated to your development

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in mine data analytics, with experience in mining operations; open-pit mining experience strongly preferred.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to perform diagnostic analytics and translate data into actionable business insights.

  • Hands-on experience with databases, data warehouses, and data lakes, including SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Synapse SQL Pool, Snowflake, Parquet, and Delta/Parquet in ADLS Gen2; proficiency in SQL, DAX, Python, Databricks and snowflake.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and present technical findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

Don’t have all the qualifications listed? That’s ok! Apply anyway. We acknowledge the value of transferrable skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights that drive decision-making in mining operations.

  • Develop and maintain high-quality data products and dashboards, ensuring stakeholders have access to near real-time data for informed decision-making.

  • Leverage data science techniques, including predictive modeling and machine learning, to provide insights that improve operational efficiency and performance.

  • Promote a data-driven culture within the organization by advocating for data utilization in day-to-day operational decisions.
