Job Description

We are currently looking for a Purchasing Agent to join our team in Hawkesbury, Ontario. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Purchasing Agent plays a crucial role in facilitating the procurement process within the plant for raw material, supplies and services.

Job Responsibilities

  • Resolve vendor or contractor grievances, and claims against suppliers.
  • Review contracts for conformance to company policy.
  • Administer on-line purchasing systems.
  • Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies, raw materials, services and equipment.
  • Ensure purchased items are delivered timely and as specified on the purchase order.
  • Represent company in negotiating and communicating with suppliers. This information can be exchanged in person, in writing, or by telephone or e-mail.
  • Observe, receive, and obtain information from all relevant sources.
  • Communication – Provide information to colleagues by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
  • Document and record information – Enter, transcribe, record, store, and maintain information in written and / or electronic form.
  • Process information – Compile, code, categorize, calculate, tabulate, audit, and verify information or data.
  • Organize, Plan, and prioritize work – Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish tasks.

    • Qualifications

  • 2 years of purchasing experience in a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Working experience with JD Edwards or similar ERP system
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of production methods and coordination of resources.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.

    • Note : This is a Safety Sensitive position.

  • Préparer et traiter les demandes et les bons de commande pour les fournitures, les matières premières, les services et l'équipement.
  • S'assurer que les articles achetés sont livrés en temps opportun et conformément aux spécifications de la commande.
  • Représenter l'entreprise dans les négociations et la communication avec les fournisseurs, que ce soit en personne, par écrit, ou par téléphone ou courriel.

    • LE CANDIDAT IDÉAL POSSEDE

  • 2 ans d'expérience en achats dans un environnement industriel lourd ou manufacturier.
  • Expérience de travail avec JD Edwards ou un système ERP similaire.
  • Maîtrise de MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Connaissance des méthodes de production et de la coordination des ressources.
  • Connaissance des principes et des pratiques comptables.
