Job description
Job Description

CIMA+’s Infrastructure team combines top-notch skills with an intimate understanding of the local community to deliver customized infrastructure services for municipalities and real-estate developers. We have delivered hundreds of projects across Canada, including innovative solutions for the full spectrum of water and wastewater assets, on time and on budget. We support clients from start to finish, whether for building brand new or assessing, repairing, and expanding on existing infrastructure. Join us and immerse yourself in a dynamic, innovative, and collaborative environment where you’ll make a real impact. Together, we’ll push boundaries and go above what’s expected of us to meet the challenges of tomorrow and engineer a better world!

CIMA+ is seeking a Construction Inspector to join our Infrastructure group working out of our Kitchener office supporting our water and wastewater construction team. This role provides an exciting opportunity in construction management supporting our communities with vital water and wastewater treatment infrastructure. Our ideal candidate will have experience ensuring the quality and compliance of process mechanical and electrical installations for water or wastewater infrastructure projects.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Engineering site inspection on water and wastewater construction projects for quality control and adherence with applicable provincial standards, engineering design and technical specifications.
  • Document construction site activities (keeping a detailed daily report log, taking photos, performing survey checks, and recording as-built conditions) and identify and monitor deficiencies.
  • Provide problem resolution and field solutions with respect to unforeseen construction issues and participate in construction progress meetings.
  • Arrange on-site geotechnical investigations and material testing (for concrete, granular materials, and asphalt) and coordinate with Engineering for specialist inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act on construction sites; ensure proper Ministry and project procedures are followed to ensure public/pedestrian safety.
  • Liaise with clients, regulatory inspectors, various utility companies, residents, and other stakeholders as required

Qualifications

  • Technical degree or diploma in a related field.
  • Experience in water or wastewater treatment or pump station construction; 5+ years of experience preferred.
  • Effective communicator possessing demonstrated skills in dealing with other staff, contractors, and the public, in matters arising from construction projects.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Working knowledge of the Occupation Health and Safety Act and its Regulations, and Ontario Provincial Standards and Specifications (OPSS) for Municipal projects.
  • Demonstrated skills in the use of computer utilizing programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook, etc.), and Bluebeam.
  • MTO Class ‘G’ driver’s license in good standing and access to a personnel vehicle.

At CIMA+, we value diversity of talent and perspective. You think you can add value, but don't meet all the job requirements? We invite you to apply, because everyone has something unique to offer. The outstanding talents that choose to join us at CIMA+ soon realize that we go all out to encourage them to grow. We look forward to hearing how you can contribute to our success.

Why choose CIMA+? Because we offer you:

  • Comprehensive Group Benefits available from day one for all permanent employees working at least 20 hours per week
  • Employee and Family Assistance Program
  • Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) with up to 4% employer contribution
  • As an employee-owned company, an annual opportunity to purchase shares for all employees
  • Work/Life balance policy across Canada
  • 3-5 weeks of vacation, based on years of relevant experience
  • Tailored training to improve your existing skills
