About Us
The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated and integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the Southeast Queensland region.
The Quality and Innovation Unit provides leadership in the development, implementation and evaluation of plans, programs, models and policies for improving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and well‑being. The Unit will develop and manage to maturity enhanced service delivery models in new and expanded IUIH services and programs.
About the Role
IUIH Public Health Physician – contributing to the ongoing development and implementation of IUIH Network public health policy, planning, response and workforce development.
Responsibilities
- Development and ongoing improvement of health prevention and promotion systems, services, programs and campaigns.
- Application of evidence‑based approaches to address key determinants of health which contribute to inequity in health and well‑being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in urban SEQ.
- Influencing public health policy and planning, including assisting in the drafting of submissions in response to national and state public health policy as it impacts on the health and well‑being of urban Indigenous people.
- Development and implementation of contextualised public health responses in the context of disease outbreaks and / or changing patterns of disease transmission.
- Ongoing improvement in the collection, collation and analysis of data to improve understanding of population health.
- Supporting the development of public health knowledge and capacity both formally and informally across the IUIH Network, including growing and developing pathways for undergraduate and postgraduate public health training and placements within the Network.
