Under the direction of the Assistant Director of the Social Division within the Department of Social and Cultural Development, the Education Policy Analyst provides policy and research support across the full range of policy and planning issues of concern to SCD, as well as other NTI departments as required. The Education Policy Analyst will support the development and implementation of NTI priorities in the area of Education / Language and provide research and advocacy on education-related matters affecting Nunavut. They will build and maintain a good working relationship with the Regional Inuit Associations and establish partnerships with the Government of Nunavut, collaborate with National Inuit Organizations, and support the Assistant Director and Director through participation on National and Territorial Committees and Article 32 Working Group meetings.
To be invited for an interview, candidates must have a minimum of 3 years experience in dealing with Education / Language issues or an equivalent field, strong written and communication skills, the ability to work well in a team environment, meet demanding deadlines, and work under high levels of stress / pressure, as well as strong policy analysis, planning, and research skills. Fluency in Inuktitut or Inuinnaqtun is an asset.
Preference will be given to Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement.
Starting salary is $108,697.00 per annum (commensurate with experience), along with a comprehensive benefits package including an employee pension plan, group insurance, and vacation travel assistance.
Housing allowance of $35,232.00.
