Job description

Groves Park Lodge is a Long term Care Home that is committed to providing an optimum quality of life for our clients and their families. In partnership with our community, we provide individuals a full scope of programs and services through a safe, nurturing, and caring environment.POSITION SCOPE : Assumes responsibility for the daily management, implementation, and evaluation of recreation, volunteer, and pastoral services. Ensures that the program establishes and achieves goals and objectives that are consistent with the mission of the long term care facility.

Responsibilities

Responsible for day-to-day for the preparation, implementation and evaluation of recreation programs that meet a diverse population of residents.Ensures that every resident is involved in identified recreational activities in order to meet the goals of the resident's recreational treatment plan. Leads, instructs, and motivates residents in individual and group leisure pursuits.Setup and organize equipment needed for specific program(s), and oversee residents involved by encouraging participation.Ability to follow safety policy and protocol in the community with residents and volunteers.Effective and professional communication skills with all facility departments.Record and discuss residents' participation levels in programs.Escort, transport, assist residents to and from programs.Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Post-secondary education required in a related field.Two years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience (preferred).· A Behavioral Therapy Program would be an asset.Excellent communication skills.· Must like working with the elderly and creating memorable programs to facilitate with the residents of the home.· Must be able to take direction and able to carry out tasks with minimal supervision.Certification / Registration / Designation : First Aid & CPR.Food Handlers Certification.Special Knowledge and Skills : Experience and knowledge in geriatrics, supervisory experience, excellent communication, organizational, problem solving, interpersonal communication, conflict resolution, time management, and financial management skills.
