Collins aerospace is looking to hire CMM inspector; In this position, you will be reporting to the Supervisor, Quality Control. As the Inspection Technician – Quality Inspector/ CMM Programmer, you will be responsible for development of CMM programs and inspection of Landing Gear Parts to Drawing and Specification using CMM, Creaform Scan, Polyworks Overlay and manual tools/techniques. this position is for weekend days.

Work Shift: Weekend Days Shift, Friday - Sunday( 6:00 am - 6:00 pm)

What You Will Do

  • Measure machined parts with a variety of measuring equipment such as verniers, micrometers, height gauges, radius gage, ultrasonic gauge & bore gauges.

  • Measure and inspect parts to ensure conformity to specification. This includes FPI (First Piece Inspection), FAI (First Article inspection), In-process inspection and QN inspection.

  • Create, Maintain CMM programs (PCDMIS), interpret blueprints and drawings, perform inspection and analyze measurement data.

  • Responsible for programming and operating Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMMs) to ensure the precision and accuracy of manufacturing parts and components.

  • Manage CMM programs to ensure the appropriate revision is used by the operators as per NADCAP Process.

  • Perform daily check of all the CMM machine and maintain the check log as per NADCAP requirement.

  • Scan the part with Creaform Scanner and Overlay with Polyworks software and review the overlay for the drawing compliance.

  • Support Machine shop operation for validation and of rework in the machine. Example, runout inspection, rework inspection in the machine with the help of mold and shadowgraph.

  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to improve product quality and efficiency.

  • Support surface finish and assembly quality control team with the inspection that requires CMM, Scan Overlay and validation of part in the machine.

  • Support QA and Quality clinic with containment process.

  • Will be required to evaluate products for acceptance to specific criteria, initiate rejection process where required, complete diverse paperwork and system records for traceability and movement of products.

  • Generate and Manage Quality Notifications for repairs and upgrades as required.

  • Complete diverse paperwork and system records as Quality for traceability and movement of article.

  • Complete First Article Inspection reports using AS9102 format.

  • Able to work under minimum supervision in a team environment is essential. Work safely with heavy parts. Apply 5S workplace organization and CORE principles for Continuous Improvement.

  • Must also possess good organizational and decision-making skills to ensure completion of paperwork and computerized tasks.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires College diploma in relevant technical discipline or equivalent and related work experience

  • A minimum of 3 years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience in using a variety of measuring equipment such as verniers, micrometers, height gauges, radius gage, ultrasonic gauge & bore gauges.

  • Experience with CMM programing and able to operate CMM in both manual and program mode (PCDMIS)

  • Minimum 2 years of CMM programming experience and capability (PCDMIS)

  • Experience in reading and interpreting drawings and specifications, including CATIA models (MBD)

  • High competency and understanding of GD&T

  • Experience in Measurement System Analysis (i.e., gauge R&R)

  • Experience with CMM NADCAP process and requirement.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Aerospace industry experience .

  • Able to Write QN and having MRB authority in the past

  • Experience with scan and overly with Creaform and Polyworks software

  • Experience operating cranes to lift and flip heavy parts.

  • Knowledge of AS9102, aircraft industry requirements, and general inspection practices.

  • Knowledge of basic calibration (recall) system and quality audit experience

  • Must be comfortable in a fast-paced work environment and possess good interpersonal skills.

  • Familiar with office computer programs (MS Word, Excel) and SAP

  • Able to work alone

  • Working experience of Catia, SAP
