Accounting Operations Manager Job Description
Our company is seeking an experienced Accounting Operations Manager to oversee daily accounting operations, payroll, trust accounting, and financial reporting while supervising a small team. The ideal candidate will have a background in small to mid-sized companies with a hands-on approach to accounting.
Key Responsibilities :
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations including A / P, A / R, billing, trust accounting, and general ledger
- Supervise and mentor a team of up to 3 direct reports including a bookkeeper and admin clerks
- Manage legal financial workflows, including credit recoveries, clawbacks on legal / service-related payments, and disbursement tracking
- Ensure proper accounting treatment of legal fees, commissions, bonuses, and prepaid card disbursements
- Oversee payroll processing via ADP, including handling of bonuses and special disbursements
- Review and reconcile trust and general accounts in compliance with regulatory requirements
- Prepare monthly financial statements, variance analyses for firm leadership
- Prepare budgeting and cash flow forecasting efforts; monitor department spending and budget adherence
- Ensure timely and accurate bank reconciliations, journal entries, and account adjustments
- Participate in reviewing EFT / vendor payments, internal expense reports, and quarterly filings (e.g., HST, levy forms)
