Job descriptionDevelop / maintain procedures and WIs (ISO 9001 aligned); drive NCR / CAPA, 8D, PFMEA / Control Plans, PCN / change control. Implement incoming inspection, MSA / GR&R, and SPC on CTQs; set Cp / Cpk capability targets. Collect and manage materials declarations (RoHS / REACH) and reliability / FA deliverables from suppliers. Conduct supplier audits and onsite builds, track action closure and performance dashboards. Analyze production and qualification data (trends, outliers, correlation); publish clear reliability / quality reports. Partner with Test / PE to define test methods, fixtures, and limits; improve GR&R and throughput. Maintain device specs, qualification matrices, DFR feedback, and customer‑facing reliability summaries. Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Photonics or a related field. 5+ years of experience in reliability or quality engineering in semiconductor, photonics, or electronics manufacturing. Hands‑on experience with reliability testing, FA tools, and statistical data analysis (Minitab, JMP, Python, or Excel). Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and related quality system standards. Experience working with external suppliers, CMs / OSATs, or foundries. Strong problem‑solving, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills. Experience with InP or Si photonics devices and optoelectronic reliability testing. Knowledge of fab processes and packaging technologies. Exposure to automated test systems or data logging (e.g., LabVIEW, Python). Prior startup or early‑stage company experience. Be part of a mission‑driven startup shaping the future of photonics. Inpho is a fast‑growing startup, focused on developing cutting‑edge optoelectronic solutions for next‑generation communications and photonic systems. Our multidisciplinary team is pushing the boundaries of innovation in integrated photonics and semiconductor packaging.
Inpho’s new class of electro‑photonic chips is poised to revolutionize and disrupt the optical interconnect market. Utilizing this new class of chips enables existing optical interconnect systems to be built at much lower cost, new architectures to be deployed that provide significantly higher price / performance, and a whole new generation of higher speed interconnect to be built that to date have been impossible.
About the Role
We’re hiring a hands‑on Reliability & Quality Engineer to lead device level and assembly level reliability (optical & electronic) and drive supplier quality. You’ll own GR468 / JESD47‑aligned qual plans, ESD robustness, FA, SPC / capability, and QMS processes; working closely with Design, Test, Ops, and external suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
Reliability (Optical & Electronics)
- Create and execute qualification plans per Telcordia GR468 and JEDEC JESD47 (HTOL, HTS, TC, DH, HAST where applicable); define sample sizes, readouts, and acceptance criteria.
- Own ESD robustness and controls : JS001 (HBM) and JS002 (CDM); coordinate test houses.
- Plan / execute HALT / HASS / ALT / DOE to establish margins and screen failure modes.
- Lead failure analysis (internal & lab partners) : CSAM, X‑ray, cross‑section, SEM / EDS, FIB; drive root cause and corrective actions.
- Build reliability models, FIT / MTBF estimates, derating and mission profiles.
