Overview
Education Support Teacher (EST) - Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) at Atlantic Provinces Special Education Authority (APSEA). Location : New Glasgow / Truro, Nova Scotia. Type : Full Time, Term contract (September 2025 to July 31, 2026). Salary : In accordance with the APSEA / NSTU Agreement. Application by : Open until filled. Start date : September 2025.
APSEA is a community dedicated to empowering children and youth across Atlantic Canada who are Deaf, deaf and hard of hearing (DHH), blind and visually impaired (BVI). We provide inclusive, responsive, and flexible educational services and seek individuals who want to make a lasting impact on learners and families.
Responsibilities
- Provide Tier 1, 2, and 3 support to educational teams, families, and care partners to support learners who are DHH and eligible to receive APSEA services.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, other educational team members, families, and community partners to implement inclusive, responsive, and flexible instructional practices for DHH learners.
- Support families to enhance child development and independence; involve families in program development and delivery.
- Maintain knowledge of assessment tools to support authentic, comprehensive assessment of DHH learners.
- Support adaptive and access technology to enable access, participation, and self-advocacy for learners.
- Contribute to creating a safe, equitable, positive, and supportive learning environment where diversity is valued.
