The Portfolio Monitoring Team is a nation-wide team that focuses on Compliance and Risk Management in the sphere of Portfolio Monitoring items (recurring Margins / Covenants / Triggers) of clients within specified Lines of Business within Canadian Commercial Banking (CCB). The team has evolved significantly over time to manage more Monitoring items on behalf of Commercial Banking Deal Teams since inception (2022) and continues to grow in scope as we seek to add value and increase efficiency across our supported teams.
The Portfolio Monitoring Teams day-to-day tasks include completing calculations for Margins / Borrowing Bases Covenants and Triggers based off of Financial Statements and Client Reporting Covenant & Trigger Tool Set-ups / Reviews; liaising with the Deal Teams on an ongoing basis regarding calculations / breaches / errors in client reporting as well as supporting the new set-up of Margins / Covenants and the creation of Margin and Covenant Calculation Cards / Worksheets.
Qualifications :
Understanding of Business Financial Statements
Facilitates decisioning and analysis of all types of credit information to support lending decisions and processes for the bank. Maintains and promotes a client service environment to satisfy and exceed customer needs and expectations. This role will make credit decisions and recommendations in accordance with sound credit-granting principles and in compliance with Bank Policies & Procedures.
- Advises and recommend alternative means of financing for borrowers / prospects when it is determined that loan structure is not in the best interest of BMO.
- Analyzes financial information tax returns credit bureau reports and other related materials.
- Provides accurate financial analysis and risk assessment of new and existing customers.
- Partners with internal stakeholders for accurate detailed client information.
- Develops credit information to make lending decisions on new renewal and extension loans.
- Assists in negotiations of terms and conditions of all decisions made via phone and e-mail interaction with clients.
- Prepares summary present facts and offer opinions concerning credit worthiness.
- Minimizes BMOs risk exposure by adhering to internal credit policies and procedures with respect to lending decisions.
- Provides input into the planning and implementation of operational programs.
- Builds effective relationships with internal / external stakeholders.
- Completes complex & diverse tasks within given rules / limits and may include handling escalations from other employees.
- Analyzes issues and determines next steps.
- Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

Salary : 37500.00 - $69500.00
Pay Type : Salaried
The above represents BMO Financial Groups pay range and type.
Salaries will vary based on factors such as location skills experience education and qualifications for the role and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Groups expected target for the first year in this position.
BMO Financial Groups total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives discretionary bonuses as well as other perks and rewards.
