Senior Civil Engineer - Marine / Coastal Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Civil Engineer with expertise in marine, coastal, and port engineering to join our growing team. This is a strategic hire to support succession planning as senior staff members approach retirement. The ideal candidate will be both technically proficient and business-development oriented, capable of bringing in new work while actively leading and managing complex waterfront projects.
Senior Civil Engineer - Marine / Coastal Responsibilities
Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities in marine, coastal, and port engineering.
Develop and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring repeat business and long-term partnerships.
Lead and contribute to complex waterfront projects, from proposal development to execution.
Serve as a technical expert, providing guidance on engineering challenges and solutions.
Act as a Project Manager, overseeing budgets, schedules, and technical deliverables.
Collaborate with internal teams across different offices to maximize project success.
Contribute to the company's growth strategy by meeting business development targets of $500K-$1M annually.
Senior Civil Engineer - Marine / Coastal Position Requirements
Bachelor's, Master's, or PHD degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on marine, port, or coastal projects.
Professional Engineer (PE) certification required.
15+ years of experience in marine, coastal, or port engineering.
Proven ability to generate business and cultivate client relationships.
Strong proposal writing and contract negotiation skills.
Ability to wear multiple hats in a small but highly specialized firm.
MBA is a plus but not required.
Experience in highly technical, complex waterfront projects is a must.
