Role Responsibilities
The Alberta Supports Offices are looking for professionals to be a part of a team that works together to reach a common goal of helping to build Alberta's workforce. If you are a positive and energetic team player and believe in outcome-based decision-making, this may be a good fit for you.
This position involves the ability to work with diverse Albertans in various stages of need and utilizes problem-solving techniques to support de-escalation / conflict resolution / negotiating and troubleshooting Albertans circumstances. It applies knowledge of human behavior theories while applying career development and employment counselling techniques to support change, growth, and development towards increased employability. Proficiency in navigating various electronic systems while effectively communicating in a multitasking environment is a valuable asset.
As a Career and Employment Consultant (CEC), you will be responsible for the assessment and eligibility determination of funding, including Income Support benefits. You will be proactive in strengthening the Alberta labour market by guiding and assisting individual Albertans with career and educational planning, as well as supporting individuals with job search activities. You will monitor and support the Albertans’ action plan by ensuring the Albertan is committed and accountable for progress towards their self-sufficiency. This position provides case management and supports individual progress in meeting the goals defined in their individual plan.
As a CEC, you will have a working knowledge of the labor market, labor trends and employment readiness supports and programs to assist Albertans attachment to employment. You may also assist employers to address labour needs by connecting job seekers to employers through recruitment events. Responsibilities involve assessment, action plan development, case management supports and ensuring Albertans have timely access to services and resources, assisting individuals in making informed career choices to enhance their employability, as well as their economic, cultural and social well-being.
As a CEC, you play a vital role in assisting Albertans at Resource Centers throughout the province. The Alberta Supports Centers offer in-person services to residents, and it is within these centers that CECs interact with Albertans to address their identified needs. The ability to meet in person and engage with Albertans directly in the center is a crucial aspect of the CEC role; CEC's are required to be in office.
