Department missionThe mission of the Culture, Sports, Leisure and Community Development Department is to improve quality of life by promoting accessibility, participation, and integration of all citizens through the provision of excellent community, cultural, sports and recreational facilities, activities, and services. Responsibilities and goals associated with the positionReporting to the Manager - Public Services and Activity Programming - the incumbent must provide reference service and research assistance as well as participate in activities programming. She or he must also take part in developing the French and English collections. The jobholder's main responsibilities are as follows : Welcoming visitors and providing on-site and online reference service and research assistance;Initiating or assisting clients in the use of services, equipment, collections and various information resources (in all formats);Offering orientation sessions on digital reference tools, electronic devices (e-reader, iPad) and computer literacy;Offering reading suggestions and promoting use of the collection;Participating in developing the French and English collections (selection and weeding);In collaboration with his or her Supervisor and other Librarians, participating in scheduling activities in the library and offsite : planning and organizing workshops and conferences, animating workshops, etc.;Performing any other related task. RequirementsMaster of Library and Information Science (MLIS) or Master of Information Science (MIS) degree. This job requires one year of experience in a similar position or any other combination of education and experience found equivalent under the established policy. Other requirements : Bilingual (spoken and written English and French);Knowledge of information technology and reference tools;Knowledge of various devices (e-book readers and tablets) for reading electronic documents (e-books, e-magazines, etc.);Good client service skillsOffice suite.
