Music Teacher (Full Time – 1.0 Position) The Athabasca Denesuline Education Authority (ADEA) is a First Nation Education Authority serving the three Denesuline First Nations communities in northern Saskatchewan; Black Lake First Nation, Hatchet Lake First Nation, and Fond Du Lac First Nation. The Authority serves a total student population of approximately 1,300+ students. The Authority is working toward improved educational outcomes by utilizing the latest technology, progressively piloting programs, and integrating Denesuline culture into the classroom and school curriculum. The ADEA is seeking a competent, confident, motivated individual to fill the position of Music Teacher for 2024-2025 school year at Father Megret High School (FMHS) located in Hatchet Lake, Saskatchewan. FPMDS is a Grade 6 to 12 facility with a student population of 350+, and a strong group of professional and paraprofessional staff. In this role, you will provide strong interpersonal skills, commitment to learning and teaching in project-based ways and provide an enthusiastic learning environment for students. This competition is open to all applicants who reside in Canada; and preference will be given to First Nation or other Indigenous applicants who possess the qualifications, knowledge, and skills to meet the minimum suitability requirements as stated for the position. Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities : Be aware of any allergy’s children may have. Establish clear instructional direction to support a positive learning climate in the context of the Denesuline culture and language. Provide positive ways for classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students. Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the needs of all students. Plan and organize materials ahead of time. Assess and document student learning daily. Assess and maintain student progress and provide feedback to students and parents. Participate in professional development, staff meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other school related activities. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities : Must be patient, flexible, observant, and passionate. Must have communications skills such as : verbal and nonverbal, active listening, and empathy. Must have strong understanding of the following programs and assessments : Effective Practices, Policies and Guidelines; Saskatchewan Curriculum. To follow the provincial Ministry of Education curricula and focuses on holistic child development including the social-emotional, physical, intellectual, and spiritual domains. Actively engage with families, children, and community members to understand their backgrounds and experiences to support an equitable and inclusive school environment. Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office, school-based staff, students, parents and community. Maintain confidentiality of students and other professional information Qualifications : Bachelors Degree in Education or equivalent. A recognized post-secondary Diploma as a Music Teacher or equivalent post-secondary education in a related area from a recognized institution would be an asset. Must be eligible for or posses a valid Saskatchewan Teaching Certificate. Experience in teaching First Nations students at a remote community would be an asset. First Aid Certification would be an asset. Related training or experience in the field of education would be a definite asset.
