Job description

Shop Attendant Electrical Term Full-Time

September 1, 2026, to May 26, 2027

Monday to Thursday 1:45 PM to 10:00 PM

Duties: This position is managed by the Department Head of Trades and receives operation functional direction, guidance, instruction from instructors in the program area supported. The attendant provides operational and program support services to Trades instructors and trades programming. The Shop Attendant is required to provide First Aid coverage (must hold a valid OFA Level 3 First Aid Certification). The Shop Attendant must be able to follow directions and guidance accurately and in a timely manner. The familiarity, use and maintenance of various hand and power tools applicable to the Electrical Trade is also required in the completion of their duties.

Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a Grade 12 diploma or equivalent, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a hands-on electrical training environment. Preference will be given to candidates with electrical industry experience and familiarity with electrical tools, equipment, and shop operations. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, including knowledge of lockout procedures, WHMIS, material handling, and the ability to apply First Aid protocols. The ability to accurately follow technical drawings, specifications, and instructor direction, troubleshoot equipment issues, manage inventory, and use computer applications such as Microsoft Office is essential. Experience in an industrial, construction, trades, or educational environment is considered an asset.

Salary: Position #070

CUPE Pay Level 4 with a starting wage of $29.83. pay hour with increments progressing to Step 5 as per the CUPE Collective agreement (This includes 16% in lieu of benefits and vacation) This position will also be entitled to a shift differential of $1.25 per hour for evening work.
