About the Role
The Laundry Attendant reports to the Support Services Manager and / or designate and provides laundry services for residents and guests in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the community while providing a safe work environment for all persons served.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Include but not limited to;
- Processes linens, drapes, personal residentclothing that will include collection and redistribution to appropriatelocations.
- Stock cupboards with clean linens as per quotas.
- Washes, dries, sorts, folds, hang items.
- Uses labeling equipment to label and re-labelresidents’ clothing to ensure name is clear and accurate.
- Operates and maintains equipment includingwashers, dryers and transport carts based on the established guidelines.
- Maintains a safe environment for residents, family and staff, through :
- accident prevention,
- knowledge of emergency procedures and regulations,
- the safe use of supplies and equipment andreporting when repairs are necessary
- keeps work area in an orderly, safe and cleancondition, and
- Utilizing infection control procedures
- Recommends ordering of chemicals and facilitylinens.
- Actively participates in orientation of new staff and attends and participates in community education programs.
- Cross trained to work within other areas of support servicesas required.
- Required to work positively and collaborativelywith all team members and supervisors.
- Performs other related duties as required.
