Position Summary
Reporting to the Pharmacy Manager of Operations, the Pharmacy Technician will be responsible to cover the order entry and compounding / dispensing of oral products, intravenous admixtures, Parenteral Nutrition Solutions, chemotherapy, narcotics & controlled drug, pre-packaging and inventory control. The hospital has a well-developed medication reconciliation on admission process whereby the technician will conduct interviews, compile information and input data into hospital systems. The hospital’s pharmacy department is one of the most advanced in the region featuring PAC Med, unit-dose distribution system with supporting Automated Dispensing Units in various locations. The essential duties will require prolonged keyboard entry, regular / continuous telephone communication & / or fax interaction with patient care units, standing, periods of walking and some lifting.
Qualifications
- Pharmacy Technician (R.Ph.T) license with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
- Previous Hospital experience is considered an asset.
- Aseptic compounding training / experience an asset.
- Unit dose dispensing of oral solids and familiarity with hospital pharmacy computerized support programs.
- Excellent work performance and attendance record required.
- The successful candidate will have a proven commitment to professional development as well as to the Mission and Vision of the Hospital. Demonstrates proficiency in written and verbal communications skills in relation to working with patients across the care continuum.
