The Build (Responsibilities)

  • Program, set up, and operate CNC and manual machining equipment including lathes, mills, drill presses, and grinders to manufacture tooling and precision components.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and specifications to determine machining methods, tooling requirements, and setup sequences.
  • Write, edit, and optimize CNC programs using G and M code, with hands on experience using MasterCam or similar CAM software.
  • Set up fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and workholding devices to ensure accurate and repeatable machining operations.
  • Perform in process and final inspections using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other inspection equipment to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Calculate dimensions, tolerances, and offsets using shop math and applied machining knowledge.
  • Monitor machine performance during operation, making adjustments to feeds, speeds, and tooling to maintain quality and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot routine machining, tooling, and program issues, escalating more complex problems as needed.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and manufacturing procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Work collaboratively with engineering, tooling, and production teams to support process improvements and consistent output.

The Toolbox (Qualifications)
