Job Summary
Paid Training – AEP Animal Care (April 2026)
Have you always dreamed of working with animals in a company that participates in drug research to save lives? Good news! In partnership with Formation Korpus Laval, Charles River Laboratories is offering a paid training program as part of an Attestation of Vocational Studies (AVS) in Animal Care. This training will be given in French.
Some elements of the vocational program will be adapted to include more content related to animal care in a research environment, with the goal of being hired as a permanent employee at Charles River Laboratories upon completion of the program.
As an Animal Care Technician for our Toxicology team at the Senneville and Laval location, you will be responsible for the well-being of all our research animals. Your success will ensure the health of our animals as well as the integrity of our preclinical studies.
In this role, primary responsibilities include:
- Cleaning all types of animal housing and related accessories;
- Handling animals for all required activities;
- Collecting data (weighing, monitoring food consumption, observing clinical signs).
Key Elements
We are looking for the following minimum qualifications for this training:
- Having successfully obtained Grade 9 units; or the equivalent in the language of instruction, second language, and mathematics; or having obtained a High School Equivalency Certificate (AENS); or having passed the General Development Test (TDG) with or without specific prerequisites.
- Having interrupted full‑time studies for at least twelve months; or being 18 years old at the time of entering the program; or having obtained a High School Diploma (DES) or a Vocational Studies Diploma (DEP) or their equivalent. or meeting the eligibility standards of Emploi-Québec’s Workforce Training Measure. (This AEP is eligible for the CFMS–AEP pathway.)
- Being able to work physically (lift up to 20 kg, walk, stand, stoop, etc.);
- Having strong attention to detail;
- Ability to follow instructions and meet precise deadlines;
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Please note that upon being hired, you will have to undergo an annual tuberculosis test at the expense of the company.

- Location of Charles River’s sites: Laval - 445 Boul. Armand-Frappier, Laval, QC, H7V 4B3 (Free parking. Near the Montmorency Subway. Electric vehicle charging station) Senneville - 22022 route Transcanadienne, Senneville, QC, H9X 1C1 (We offer a free shuttle service from the Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue train station and John Abbott College to the Senneville site. Free parking. Electric vehicle charging station)
- Salary: 21$
- Program duration: 5 months
- Program Schedule: Monday to Friday from 8AM-4.15PM
- Regular Work Schedule after the program : Day, Evening and nights when needed. Weekend rotation and holidays.
