Job Duties / Qualifications, Skills and Abilities(QSA)
Job Duties Job Duties 1.In consultation with the Program Head, provide leadership support for the Simulation Learning Centre (SLC) for both the hospital and technology units. Current educational knowledge and teaching practice using high fidelity simulation in a student centered environment and experience in creating and managing simulation curricula using all levels of simulation equipment would be an asset to the successful applicant.
2.Serve as the lead faculty in the Simulation Learning Centre working with programs to :
- Determine appropriate simulation technology applications
- Determine scenario content
- Integrate the use of technology and simulation in the curriculum
- Orientate faculty, staff and students in the use of simulators, delivery of simulated clinical experience / scenarios
- Evaluate effectiveness of simulation experiences.
3.Develop and revise specific scenario content.
4.Collaborate and assist the simulation technician and senior simulation assistant with planning and scheduling simulation events including developing and managing processes for packaging, processing and distribution of supplies.
5.Collaborate and assist the simulation technician with the technical input of scenarios, and physical preparation and dismantling of simulation equipment including mannequins, task trainers, simulators, staging, props, A / V and computerized assets
6.Collaborate in the development and maintenance of SLC policies and procedures.
7.Develop evaluation tools to determine effectiveness of simulation experiences.
8.Monitor simulation events (scenarios) in conjunction with program faculty to evaluate student progress and provide feedback related to simulation experiences.
9.Work with programs to create inter-professional learning opportunities in the SLC.
10.Collaborate with senior simulation assistant with scheduling professional services staff.
11.Establish and maintain internal relationships with faculty in the Science and Health and Nursing Divisions.
12.Establish and maintain external relationships with counterparts from other educational institutions, simulation lab professionals, vendors, representatives of the community, health industry and health education leaders, nationally and internationally.
13.Collaborate with Virtual Campus for development of virtual lab opportunities.
14.Participate in program, division, Campus, SIAST, industry and professional or other stakeholder activities.
15.Travel may be required. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE Specific Accountabilities 1. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) with a Bachelor’s degree.2. Eligible for registration (active status) with the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses’ Association, or Licensed with Saskatchewan College of Paramedics.3. A minimum of two years recent and relevant experience as a Registered Nurse or Advanced Care Paramedic.4. Effective communication skills (written and oral).
5. Effective interpersonal skills and problem solving skills.
6. Effective instructional ability.
7. Demonstrated skills and experience in the appropriate selection and use of various technologies and delivery methods to support education and learning activities.
8. Ability to apply theory, practices and principles of adult education.
9. Small group facilitation skills and leading, modeling and teaching interaction skills.
10. Ability to arrange, maintain and evaluate resources.
11. Ability to function as a team member in an ever-changing environment.
12. Demonstrated competence and recent experience in the use of the internet, e-mail, MS Office Suite software and the ability to learn and adapt to changing technology.
13. Demonstrates valuing diversity. Duties Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA) 1.Internal Applicants : Educational requirement in order to be employed in NEPS, Practical Nursing, Continuing Nursing Education / Post RN programs must be met.
2.External applicants : Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
3.Eligible for registration (active status) with the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses’ Association or the Registered Psychiatric Nurses’ Association of Saskatchewan.
4.Effective communication skills (written and oral).
5.Effective interpersonal skills and problem solving skills.
6.Effective instructional ability.
7.Minimum of two years recent and relevant experience as a registered nurse or registered psychiatric nurse.
