Job Details

This position is for a seasonal overnight camp counsellor beginning June 2026, working part‑time. Rate : $158.40 / day. A competitive wage and benefit package includes free YMCA gym membership, discounted Y program fees, and free daily camp bus transportation upon request.

Responsibilities

  • Implementing and facilitating the delivery of quality recreational programs and services.
  • Supervising program participants as they engage in recreational activities.
  • Ensuring that children and youth have a positive experience through fun and rewarding recreation and sport programs.
  • Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of program participants.
  • Performing housekeeping responsibilities such as sanitisation of equipment and cleaning program areas.

Qualifications & Abilities

  • Ability to work in English; bilingualism is an asset.
  • National Lifeguard Certification, Bronze Cross, Paddle Canada, CUI, or other relevant certifications considered an asset.
  • Flexibility to work all hours of the day.
  • Well‑developed interpersonal and relationship‑building skills; ability to establish rapport and communicate effectively with participants, staff, and volunteers.
  • Ability to maintain a calm demeanor in stressful situations.
  • Commitment to working in a socially inclusive environment, responding with sensitivity to diverse needs.
  • Additional Requirements

  • Applicants must be 17 years old by June 2026.
  • Applicants must have a current Standard First Aid and CPR “C” certification.
  • Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada.
  • A police record check not more than 6 months old is required.
  • Semi‑annually, staff must complete mandatory training for the protection of Children & Youth and submit certificate of completion.
