Your Opportunity
Pharmacy Technicians will work with Pharmacy Assistants and Pharmacists working to their full scope of practice under limited supervision of the Operations Manager, collaborating within the health care team to perform moderately complex duties. They handle all aspects of drug distribution and inventory control to provide efficient daily operation of all departmental services, ensuring safe and quality patient care. Core duties include distribution related tasks, repackaging, final product checking and release required by regulated health professionals, handling and storage of controlled substances, inventory control and management including receiving and purchasing of pharmaceuticals, emphasis on turnover to reduce outdating of medications, and provision of ward stock. They assist with training staff hires and precepting students, obtain information to facilitate medication reconciliation activities and clarify discrepancies, maintain department records and statistics, and prepare reports as required. They build interactive relationships with all members of the healthcare team, communicating with nursing staff to clarify orders and requests, triaging drug information questions and distribution issues, and providing zone support when required. Completion of internal validation programs for final product checking, participation in special projects, and performance of other duties deemed necessary or assigned are also part of the role. Casual positions are short‑notice call‑in shifts that are not routinely scheduled. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance with an annual maximum of $3,000, payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
