Come work as Adult Cardiovascular Surgeon with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!
Vancouver Coastal Health Authority seeks applications for an adult cardiovascular surgeon to join the primary site of Vancouver General Hospital. The successful candidate must hold certification in both cardiac surgery and vascular surgery which is recognized by the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada, and hold, or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons British Columbia.
The position requires additional fellowship level training in advanced aortic surgery from an internationally recognized and high volume center. Subspecialty fellowship training should include primary and re-operative open surgery including root, ascending, arch, and valve sparing procedures, as well as endovascular surgery (including complex branch graft selection and delivery). Training and experience in the selection and implantation of cardiac implantable electrical devices for brady-therapy (pacemakers) is essential. Experience with selection, implantation, and management of short term mechanical circulatory support technology including extracorporeal membrane oxygenation is also necessary.
The successful candidate will be a key member of the aortic surgery program at Vancouver General Hospital, and the thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) program, and will be expected to apply for an appointment in the Department of Surgery at the University of British Columbia, participating in research projects within and outside the Division.

- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Mandatory
- Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) - Desired
- Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP) - Full
- Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) - Mandatory
- Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC) - Mandatory
- Surgical Skills - Mandatory
