McMaster Children’s Hospital, located in Hamilton’s west-end, is the second largest children’s hospital in Canada. We are home to the fastest-growing kids-only emergency department in Ontario, one of Canada’s most advanced neonatal intensive care units, and a range of programs and clinics with unique expertise in a number of areas including children’s cancer, digestive diseases, and mental health.

The Fracture Clinic at the McMaster Children's Hospital is a dual care delivery model for both adults and children. It is a dynamic, fast paced outpatient clinic, providing orthopedic surgical follow up care.

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Orthopedic Surgeons and in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team, the Registered Orthopedic Technologist provides a complete range of orthopedic technology services. The Registered Orthopedic Technologist performs skills related to the care of a diverse population of patients, pediatric and adult, requiring the services of orthopedic surgery. Performs other assigned duties in the Fracture Clinic and other Clinical areas.

Schedule Work Hours

Monday to Friday; days and evenings

Qualifications

  • Registered with Canadian Society of Orthopaedic Technology
  • Certificate as Advanced Registered Orthopaedic Technologist
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a Registered Orthopaedic Technologist
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve, make recommendations and implement action plans
  • Demonstrated computer skills
  • Self-motivated and the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal including ability to understand and follow written and verbal directions
  • Ability to work effectively with the interdisciplinary team
  • Ability to work in a fast paced changing environment
