Job descriptionOperations Supervisor, Waste page is loaded## Operations Supervisor, Wastelocations : St. John's, Newfoundland and Labradortime type : Full timeposted on : Posted Todayjob requisition id : R30767Reporting directly to the Operations Manager – Foxtrap Facility, the Operations Supervisor is responsible for creating a zero-harm environment, maintaining efficient day-to-day operations, and for the effective supervision of the operators and collection DriversAt GFL we pride ourselves on being a great place to come to work every day, here are just a few reasons why; RRSP Matching program Eligible to participate in the bonus program Health, Vision and Dental Coverage Employee Assistance Programs Life InsuranceJob Duties Supervise the daily operations, including planning, assigning, and monitoring work for operators. Create a zero-harm environment and ensure that the team upholds GFL's safety and service standards. Liaise with customers and contractors, conduct site visits, and assist with quoting and tendering processes. Provide coaching, feedback, and leadership to the operating team, as well as workforce planning and coordination. Identify and recommend continuous improvements to operational processes and procedures Execute work plans to keep projects on schedule and budget, and ensure maximum asset utilization Conduct customer and regulatory reporting and assist with month-end inventory entry. Report all incidents, safety infractions, non-compliance issues and participate in the investigation and development of corrective and preventative actions Lead, motivate and develop direct reports utilizing Job Task Observations (JTO’s), Vital 9s and Hazard Assessments to reinforce or correct specific behaviors Participate in the recruitment process and support the onboarding and training of new hires Develop, maintain and implement standard operating procedures (SOP’s / SWP’s) Facilitate safety meetings and toolbox safety talks Ensure that employees receive levels of training that are adequate for the jobs they are to perform andthat will ensure the preservation of a safe workplace Inventory management Facility and equipment maintenance and housekeeping Resolve and record all employee-related issues to and including all such issues that require the adoption / imposition of disciplinary measures.Requirements Post-secondary education and / or equivalent work experience Minimum of three (3) years in a leadership, managerial or supervisory role Related industrial services operational experience preferred with knowledge of waste management and environmental services Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel and Word; Proven knowledge of business and management principles, strategic planning, leadership techniques, human resources management; Demonstrated commitment to Health & Safety; Proven analytical and problem solving skills; Superior communication and customer service skills Ability to adapt to new systems and procedures.GFL Environmental is an equal opportunity employer and encourages applications from all qualified individuals.
