Graymont is seeking a dynamic individual to assume the role of Remote Operations Supervisor at our Moncton Remote Operations Center (ROC) in New Brunswick. Reporting to the Remote Operations Manager, you will play a crucial leadership role, overseeing a team of engineers responsible for the remote monitoring and operation of plants through our cutting-edge process control system. You will also lead efforts in maintaining technology and continuous improvement initiatives that will lead to scaling up of automation across the globe. Graymont operates multiple Remote Operations Centers (ROCs) strategically positioned to support Global Operations. As a member of our team based in Moncton, you will lead and contribute directly to Graymont's corporate objective of advancing centralized operations.
In addition to overseeing employee management decisions, the Remote Operations Supervisor will lead future recruitment, training, and development initiatives. The role also involves fostering team building and effective collaboration across various functions, including close coordination with supporting stakeholder groups like Operations, Process Engineering, and Information Services. Responsibilities
Provide leadership and guidance to a team of Remote Operations Engineers and Specialist in ensuring safe and continuous operation, product quality, and environmental compliance.
Collaborate globally with plant-based personnel and Remote Operators across different ROCs to optimize operational processes, drive continuous improvement and scale up the program.
Cultivate a culture of excellence, in terms of consistency in operational practices across all Graymont ROCs, aiming for seamless coordination and eliminating distinctions in operational approaches, ensuring standardized and efficient global operations.
Oversee the monitoring and control of plant production equipment, making necessary recommendations to meet operational and quality requirements.
Maintain shift operation records, facilitate information exchange between ROCs and communicate effectively with onsite operations personnel, maintenance technicians, supervisors, and process engineers.
Monitor and analyze various process trends, apply knowledge to drive process efficiencies, and actively contribute to special projects aimed at improving the remote operations program.
Work collaboratively with Graymont’s Technical Services Group and plants to expand and enhance the automation strategy.
Assist in the defining and implementation of standards, methods and procedures for operating processes remotely.
Evaluate performance and conduct performance appraisals for direct reports.
Review new hire applications, interview, and select new team members in collaboration with regional leadership.
Identify, develop, continuously improve, and communicate best available process practices within Graymont.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (experience demonstrating an advanced process control background will be considered).
Professional Experience: 5+ years of industrial experience in a manufacturing or processing environment, with a focus on Process Control Systems and/or industrial automation
Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a team environment.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to implement innovative solutions in a timely manner.
Self-directed and highly motivated requiring minimal direct guidance.
Effective communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
Systems Experience: Proficient in Microsoft programs. Background in Electrical, PLC programming, instrumentation, automation, and HMI controls is a strong asset.
Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel regularly throughout Canada and the U.S. (up to 20%). Ability to work flexible hours.
Language Requirement: Bilingual proficiency in French and English (Written and Spoken); additional languages are a plus.
