Supervisor, Forestry Operations at GreenFirst Forest Products
Join us as a Superintendent in our operations division. GreenFirst Forest Products is committed to sustainable forestry and community partnership. We are looking for a Supervisor, Forestry Operations to plan, organize, and supervise forestry operations for the Kapuskasing, Opasatika and Hearst Divisions, ensuring quality work while maintaining cost effectiveness.

CA$73,699.00 / yr - CA$109,962.00 / yr

Responsibilities
- Promote and provide a safe workplace, seek improvements, and support the Health & Safety Program.
- Lead a motivated, efficient, and engaged operations team of direct reports and provide career development opportunities.
- Coach and mentor employees to ensure maximum performance.
- Recommend training requirements for employee development.
- Provide direction to operations teams in consultation with customers, consultants, contractors or suppliers.
- Assist in negotiating harvesting and equipment contracts with internal and external contacts.
- Support compliance with collective agreements and maintain positive union / management / employee relations.
- Maintain a communications program to keep your team informed.
- Develop and maintain a good rapport between labour, customers, outside agencies, other users and management.
- Report to the Superintendent, Hearst Operations – Forest Management.
- Participate in short‑term and mid‑term planning pertaining to budget requirements, staff selection and projects.
- Assist in preparing and developing operations budgets, authorize expenditures, review and analyze financial reports and take appropriate actions.
- Coordinate activities of the Forest Management, North Ontario West operations to maintain production targets, quality of wood products and supply for the Kapuskasing and Hearst sawmills.
- Prepare work schedules to ensure effective and efficient operations.
- Ensure that all operations adhere to the federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations.
- Advise and recommend changes or opportunities on operating costs to supervisor.
- Report and explain deviations from planned activities.
- Assist in any other sector of Forest Management, Northern Ontario West operations as requested by the Superintendents and Woodlands Manager.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
