Job description
Hello! My name is Marisa and my husband is Marcos. Our twin boys will be 7 this summer. We are looking for a nanny for the summer months. I am a speech language pathologist and in the summer will work 3 days one week, 4 days the next. Marcos works full time with his local small business in the oil field. The person who joins us for the summer will be our fourth nanny. All 3 previous nannies were live-in. We are open to another live-in option, but live-out works as well if you are ok with driving or happen to live in Wetaskiwin! I have a tentative start date of Friday June 13, 2026 for training/moving in, but that is flexible. Is our family a good fit for you? We live in a small town and have neighbours who come over to play almost every day for a few hours. We are the middle house of a set of neighbourhood friends. The group of kids who often play ranges from age 6 to age 11. It’s usually a group of 4 to 7 kids who play together from three families. The other two families have stay-at-home moms and you will communicate with them via text/messenger throughout the day about where kids are playing as they come and go between the three houses. If multiple kids playing together with supervision and help as needed sounds like something you would enjoy, please consider us for your summer! Applicants with knowledge of current childcare practices will be highly considered, however if you are willing to learn and enjoy children please apply! Our nannies are all required to complete the “Big Little Feelings” course. This is paid time. Additional courses and reading will be based on your knowledge and experience. This may include: - the book “How to Talk so Little Kids Can Listen” by Joanna Faber and Julie King - “The Everything Siblings” course by Dr. Siggie - the book “Power On” by Ash Brandin for screen management - the “Feeding Littles” course by Megan McNamee. Completing additional learning will increase your wage. If you already know what is taught in these courses and books, your wage will reflect your competence. Day-To-Day Playing outside is one of our family values. Bike rides to near-by playgrounds or the library will be a part of your summer. Ensuring bike safety will be part of your childcare role and the children know they must wear their helmets. If you are comfortable on a bike and confident in the water, biking to the swimming pool and NEW spray park will be an option. We have a cat who mostly keeps to herself on the deck outside all summer :) Screen time is limited and high quality content is required (they are not allowed to scroll YouTube without an adult). Additional guidelines for shows/movies/content creators will be provided as necessary. I will provide meal and snack guidance at the beginning of the summer. The mental load of deciding what to offer and when will be transferred to you when you are confident with the task. Neighborhood kids are always welcome to join for meals and snacks. Home Management You will be responsible for the boys’ laundry, tidying during your work hours, helping the boys put their things away, cleaning after meals, keeping the boys’ bathroom clean, helping the boys to clean and vacuum their rooms, vacuuming the main play area, entry, kitchen, laundry room and basement as needed. Supper preparing will often be a part of your day and you are welcome to join the meal. If organization is something you enjoy, we welcome you to tackle organizational tasks as you please! If it’s not your strongest skill, that’s ok, our house is mostly labeled and we all try to get items back where they belong so everyone can find things :) Additional cleaning tasks will be discussed as the summer goes on and we all get a feel for how much time you have to clean vs how much time is spent with kids. The work hours are 7:45am - 4:30pm on the days I work. If you want extra hours with cleaning/organizing on days I am home we can make a plan. We will be taking some time for family trips in the summer. We can chat about if those days are paid cleaning days or days off. Your weekends will be your own to enjoy. We typically have only had a few evening babysitting hours a year. I expect the majority of evenings to be your own this summer. Live-in Option We have a basement room with your own sink and storage. A TV, bed and a desk are provided. There is a wet bar downstairs with a microwave and bar fridge for your meals when you want. Your personal food can be stored there. The basement bathroom is next to your room with a large shower. It is important to us that our boys enjoy their summer and that we can feel confident going to work knowing they are safe and cared for. It is also important to us that you enjoy your summer and your time with our family. If you are interested in a position with us, please message me!
