Job description

When you care deeply about the work you do, it’s rewarding to see it through from concept to completion. We partner with clients to provide both program management and construction management to strategize, plan, and implement projects that drive organizations forward. From hospitals and airports to university campuses, mass transit systems, water treatment facilities, mines, and wind farms, we've successfully managed thousands of projects.

Joining our team, turning visionary ideas into reality, will shape your future—and the future of your community.

We are strategizing, planning, and implementing projects that help clients achieve their organization’s objectives. Join our award-winning program management team and bring transformational project solutions to life.

Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a highly organized and proactive professional to join our practice as a Field Ambassador working primarily at a project site in Caledon, Peel Region. This role combines stakeholder engagement, project communications, and on-site presence during construction, with construction on-site experience considered mandatory. You will act as a key liaison between project teams, contractors, and community stakeholders while monitoring construction activities and supporting clear, proactive communication throughout the project lifecycle.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Liaise with project delivery managers, communications manager, contractors, and external agencies.

  • Develop and maintain project Engagement Plans and communications.

  • Ensure project information is accurate on program webpages and PlanEngage.

  • Maintain stakeholder lists and build relationships with schools, businesses, health centers, and community organizations.

  • Prepare and distribute notices, newsletters, maps, and event materials.

  • Host Public Information Centres and stakeholder meetings.

  • Conduct Business and Institutional Care Program (BICP) surveys and regular check‑ins with area businesses.

  • Plan and manage project signage, wayfinding, and hoarding.

  • Support proactive issues resolution.

  • Monitor construction progress to understand schedules, impacts, and mitigation measures and communicate these clearly to stakeholders.

  • Review Traffic Management and Construction Management Plans to assess impacts on the travelling public, businesses, institutions, and property owners.

  • Track monthly progress lookaheads and provide clear updates to stakeholders.

  • Participate in project kick‑offs, bi‑weekly reviews, and coordination meetings.

  • Input project‑level communications information into progress reports and communications calendars.

  • Track construction‑related outages (planned and emergency) for communication to key stakeholders.

  • Train and mentor junior staff in communications procedures and standards.

  • Maintain organized project documentation and photo records for use in communications materials.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Experience working on construction sites is required, with preference for work on linear municipal water/wastewater and/or tunneling projects.

  • Proven project management skills, delivering quality results on time and within budget.

  • Experience in construction contract administration, consulting, and/or community consultations (preferred).

  • Strong listening and problem‑solving skills for issues resolution.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Ability to work seamlessly with multidisciplinary project teams.

  • Capacity to multi‑task and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Self‑motivated with strong technical writing and public speaking abilities.

  • Exceptional attention to detail.

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions as required.

Education and Experience

  • A university degree or post‑graduate college diploma.

  • Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in construction, stakeholder management, and project implementation, within water infrastructure projects.
