Day In the Life

In this role, you will oversee and coordinate daily quarry operations to ensure efficient production, equipment utilization, and adherence to company goals. You will maintain strict compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards while monitoring production, inventory, and pit development. It's important that you represent the company professionally and support smooth material processing and load‑out activities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the successful day‑to‑day operations of the quarry, ensuring alignment with company objectives and efficient use of manpower and equipment.
  • Collaborate with the Manager to plan, schedule, and coordinate work to maximize operational performance.
  • Ensure full compliance with Occupational Health & Safety legislation and The Miller Group’s Health & Safety policies, including required training.
  • Perform quality control checks to ensure products meet or exceed required specifications.
  • Maintain production schedules and adjust systems based on material needs.
  • Represent SOAG professionally when interacting with customers, authorities, and regulatory agencies.
  • Ensure all equipment is clean, well‑maintained, and operating safely and efficiently while helping minimize operating costs.
  • Oversee pit development to ensure proper truck ingress, staging, and egress for efficient loading.
  • Monitor all areas of the quarry to ensure extraction and processing activities meet high standards and comply with safety, environmental, and company regulations.
  • Maintain accurate daily records of aggregate production and sales.
  • Schedule, conduct, and monitor month‑end inventory counts.
  • Operate scales, the air classifier, and a loader, with a clear understanding of the load‑out process.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in all facets of pit entitlement, design and operation
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Precision and accuracy in calculations and documentation
  • Excellent organizational and people skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Hold appropriate licenses and certifications to operate equipment
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation
  • Able to multi-task and handle multiple priorities easily
  • Able to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Self-starter, goal oriented and able to solve problems innovatively

Compensation Data

Targeting $28.29 - 32.05/hr
