In their daily work, nurses in CSC contribute to prevention, care, treatment, and support of acute and chronic physical and mental health conditions of offenders. CSC nurses provide a wide range of clinical services that can be found in a community setting, while specializing in services that reflect the needs of the offender population. These include infectious disease prevention and control, opiate substitution therapy programs, suicide prevention, enhanced discharge planning, and mental health interventions to support offenders with mental health disorders.
