Overview

The Clinical Informatics Specialist is responsible for leading and coordinating activities of an interdisciplinary clinical project team in the analysis, design, implementation, evaluation and support of clinical applications. Focus will be on the build and maintenance of nursing, physician and interprofessional documentation, order sets and mPages.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provides leadership for the overall analysis, design, implementation, testing, monitoring and support of clinical applications.
• Captures clinical requirements, converts them to technical requirements and implements solutions.
• Ensures implementation design decisions address cross‑functional needs and embody patient‑focused care principles.
• Monitors and maintains data quality and integrity.
• Ensures patient confidentiality in accordance with PHIPA legislation.
• Supports and educates end users to ensure appropriate, effective and safe usage.
• Processes end‑user feedback, requests and coordinates execution of clinical application changes.
• Liaises with internal and external support organizations to meet service‑level agreements.
• Maintains membership on committees, work groups, or task forces to facilitate development and revision of clinical applications.
• Acts as a principal communication coordinator between end users, IT, system administrators and vendors.
• Participates in benefits measurement and quality assurance audit activities.
• Acts as a change agent to identify process improvement opportunities that support patient‑focused care and point‑of‑service decision‑making.
• Designs, configures and maintains Cerner system.
• Leads development and execution of system testing scripts, including regression and integration testing for all application upgrades.
• Develops system policies and procedures and maintains system documentation.
• Coordinates system rollout strategy, establishes timelines and milestones in collaboration with project managers and sponsors.
• Collaborates in development of learning strategies, training and evaluation materials for clinical applications.
• Leads and participates in creation and improvement of standard processes for issue, support ticket and enhancement request management.
• Participates in the interviewing and hiring of new employees and students for the Information Technology team.
