At Alberta Health Services (AHS), we are currently looking for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join the Family Medicine Unit at the Leduc Community Hospital. Acting as an advocate, coordinator and liaison for the patient, the LPN identifies needs and set priorities in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team. The LPN participates in nursing assessment/interventions, care planning, implementing prescribed treatments, administering medications, evaluating treatment, and monitoring/documenting treatment progress and patient response. The LPN will also participate in quality monitoring activities and facilitate patient and family centered education and discharge planning in accordance with the established standards, and the vision, values, policies and procedures of Alberta Health Services. The LPN will work within the identified scope of practice of the Unit of hire, under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and practice according to the policy and procedures set out by AHS and maintain competent practice and provide care according to CLPNA regulations. Description:

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, and demonstrated skill level, in alignment with applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, high quality, patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working within the CoACT framework and Connect Care experience preferred. Experience in care of medical, post-operative surgical, orthopedic, and subacute patients is desired. ACLS certification favored. IV Therapy and PICC certification preferred.
